Rodrick Dixon's "voice has a quality like polished steel under tension--flexible
and ringingly resonant." Chicago Tribune. He has appeared on stage
and in concert in a variety of dramatic roles that encompass the repertoire
of Opera, Contemporary Opera, Oratorio, Concert/recital, Musical Theater and
Television.
Mr. Dixon's television credits include PBS specials Cook Dixon & Young Volume One (2005), Washington Opera Gala at Constitution Hall, The Mark Twain awards honoring Whoopi Goldberg at the Kennedy Center (November 2001) My Favorite Broadway: The Love Songs (March 2001) at the City Center, The Jerry Lewis Telethon 2002 and 2003, Marshall Fields Christmas commercials and Chicagoís Christmas Glory on channel 9. He appeared on The Tony Awards as a part of the hit Broadway musical Ragtime, NBC's Todayís Show, Good Morning America, Rosie O'Donnell, Carolyn Rhea and The Wayne Brady show.
Rodrick Dixon principle operatic debuts include the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Portland Opera, Columbus Opera, Virginia Opera and Lyric Opera Center for American Artist. He has performed as a concert soloist in Europe at the Chatele Theater in France, Napoleon's Court in Fontainebleau and Bettona Symphony in Italy. His United States concerts debuts include the Chicago Symphony Orchestra at Ravinia, Chicago Symphony Orchestra at Millennium Park, Atlanta Symphony, Los Angeles Symphony, Cincinnati Symphony, Dayton Symphony, Denver Symphony, Vail Music festival, Concordia Orchestra at Lincoln Center, Rackham Symphony choir, Wheeling Symphony and Elgin Symphony. Mr. Dixon earned rave reviews for his Dame Myra Hess Memorial concert broadcast honoring Roland Hayes on WFMT-FM in Chicago. Rodrick Dixon has performed as tenor soloist for the Do-It-Yourself Messiah at Orchestra Hall and Lyric Opera of Chicago. He completed a national recital tour for Community Concerts with his wife soprano Alfreda Burke in 2001. His musical credits include Ragtime on Broadway; showboat in the Auditorium Theater in Chicago, Chicago popís orchestra at the Rosemount Theater, popsí concerts with Grant Park Orchestra and Wheaton Symphony.
Mr. Dixon's CD and DVD recordings include The PBS Great Performances "Cook Dixon & Young Volume 1 ì(2005)" and "Follow that Star Christmas CD by Bishop T.D Jakes". Recent performances include the opening of Chicago's Millennium Park with the Chicago Symphony with, James Conlon conducting, A tribute to Mr. Rogers with the Pittsburg Symphony and Passion of the Christ, Christ Church of Oak Brook, IL.
Upcoming performances include the role of Tonio in Michigan Opera's production of Gaetano Donizetti THE DAUGHTER OF THE REGIMENT at the Detroit Opera House, The airing of the PBS Great Performance featuring Cook, Dixon & Young in Concert. Mr. Dixon recently recorded a new CD and DVD title "Cook, Dixon & Young Volume One" that will release this summer to coincide with the PBS Great Performance airing followed by a world tour.
